Infinite Ribbon Playing Cards Installation
This innovative art installation reimagines the traditional playing card as a medium for sculptural expression, inspired by Max Bill's iconic 'Endless Ribbon' sculpture. By employing a single, continuous line that mimics the sculpture's natural flow and folding, the piece transforms 648 Bicycle Playing Cards into a captivating three-dimensional form.
Design Concept: The design is segmented into six distinct parts, where the natural curvature and extension of the line dictate the formation of unique spatial volumes, reminiscent of the enveloping nature of a hat. This approach not only challenges the conventional use of playing cards but also explores the intrinsic properties of paper and form.
Structural Innovation: A key feature of this artwork is its self-sustaining structure. The clever arrangement and connection between individual cards create a cohesive and stable form, eliminating the need for external fasteners or rubber bands. This design decision highlights the potential for strength and stability in seemingly delicate materials.
